NMITE is a pioneering UK Higher Education provider rethinking engineering and technology education through active learning, interdisciplinarity, and strong connections with industry and community. We’re launching a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management in September 2025 from our state-of-the-art Skylon Campus, built on principles of circularity, life cycle analysis, and regenerative design. Now, we’re expanding our team to help deliver this transformative programme working in partnership with the sector. The degree will draw upon the activities of the Centre for Advanced Timber Technology (CATT) which is leading the way in sustainable construction research and education as cited by the Timber in construction roadmap 2025.
Tasks
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Teaching Fellow in Sustainable Built Environment, passionate about delivering forward-looking education and helping redefine what it means to learn and work in the built environment sector. You will co-create and deliver challenge-based learning experiences across topics such as:
* Sustainability & Construction
* Materials for the Built Environment
* Built Environment Lifecycle & Circular Economy
* Digital Technologies for Retrofitting and Building Management
* Construction Project Management
* Regulatory Frameworks and Professional Practice
Your work will be instrumental in helping NMITE become a national leader in sustainable built environment education. You’ll work closely with our CATT team and our partners from across the construction value chain to create dynamic, hands-on learning experiences.

We’re looking for a passionate and driven professional with a background in construction or the built environment—whether through academic study or hands-on industry experience. You should have a strong understanding of modern construction methods, regenerative design, and sustainable practices, along with the ability to inspire others through teaching and collaboration.
Ideal candidates will:
* Have teaching experience or a talent for developing engaging educational content.
* Thrive in interdisciplinary environments and enjoy bridging academia and industry.
* Be eager to shape a brand-new degree programme from the ground up.
* Connect effortlessly with students, industry partners, and local communities.
* Bring expertise in BIM, sustainable standards (Passivhaus, BREEAM), or digital construction tools.
What You’ll Bring (Essential):
* A degree (or equivalent experience) inconstruction, built environment, or a related field.
* A deep commitment tosustainable and regenerative design.
* Proven ability tocreate and deliver high-quality learning materials.
* Experience working indiverse, multidisciplinary teams.
* Knowledge ofcircular economy principles, life cycle analysis (LCA), or sustainable materials.
* Outstandingcommunication and collaboration skills.
* A student-focused approach, with enthusiasm forreal-world, challenge-based learning.
Desirable:
* Apostgraduate qualification in sustainability, management, or a related discipline.
* Higher Education teaching experience in construction or built environment.
* Ateaching qualification or HEA Fellowship.
* Proficiency inBIM or digital design tools.
* Familiarity withsustainable frameworks (Passivhaus, BREEAM, LEED).
* Membership in aprofessional body or institution.
* Experience inCPD, lifelong learning, or widening participation initiatives.
