Head / Sole Gardener – Period Property near Hereford, Herefordshire - £40,000+ GPA
Our client is seeking an experienced, proactive, and creative Head / Sole Gardener to take responsibility for a large and diverse garden at a beautiful period property near Hereford / Ledbury.
The garden is largely established but requires careful restoration to bring it back to its former glory. Alongside this, there will be exciting opportunities to work closely with the owner on new projects. While the owner has some plans in mind, they are keen to appoint a gardener who can contribute their own ideas and design vision as well as take a hands-on approach to day-to-day gardening.
This is an excellent long-term role for a passionate horticulturist looking for their next challenge.
The grounds extend across several acres and include:
1. Large areas of formal and informal lawns
2. A rose garden
3. A walled garden with patio area
4. A small vineyard
5. Arboretum
6. Borders and landscaped features
Applicants must have:
7. Accredited formal horticultural qualifications
8. Strong practical gardening experience across a wide range of horticultural disciplines
9. Creativity and the ability to bring forward new ideas and designs
10. A hands-on approach and a passion for high-quality gardening
11. Good knowledge of care and maintenance of garden equipment and machinery
Role Details
12. Full-time, Monday to Friday (seasonal hours as required)
13. Hands-on day-to-day gardening duties plus responsibility for machinery upkeep
14. Opportunity to shape and develop the garden alongside the owner
Salary: £40,000+ gross per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
