An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician who will be responsible for owning the mechanical maintenance of the Syngenta CHP Plant at Huddersfield, and providing an effective, proactive maintenance service in conjunction with the Veolia Energy system to enable efficiency and cost targets to be exceeded. Call‑out rota includes other sites across West and South Yorkshire.

What you'll be doing
* Manage and maintain the daily maintenance of the plant within a team that delivers 24/7 coverage, working a call‑out rota to the Syngenta and West Yorkshire Mobile sites.
* Manage contractors and keep records to prove compliance.
* Maintain a good level of housekeeping and aesthetic appearance in accordance with SOPs and KPI standards.
* Carry out mechanical maintenance, fault finding, repair, decommissioning and recommissioning on a wide range of plant including high‑ and low‑pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment, ensuring all equipment within Veolia's control is properly maintained and repaired, maximizing plant efficiency and safety.
* Act independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a flexible approach and focusing on the needs of customers, effectively following quality processes and identifying areas for improvement.
* Share knowledge and train the Veolia site team to cover in absence.
* 1 in 8 call‑out rota.
What we're looking for
* Qualified to HNC or ONC level in a craft, trade or engineering discipline.
* Previous experience of steam boilers and hot water systems.
* Proactive, self‑managing with strong technical skills and high personal standard.
* Excellent housekeeping standards.
* Proven fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability.
* Excellent communication skills (written, telephone, face‑to‑face).
* Ability to complete forms (engineers' worksheets, timesheets, PPM sheets, expense forms) accurately.
* Full driving licence.
