SRT are recruiting for a Design Manager - Construction / Civils, who along with the project teams will be at the forefront of working with our customers for the build and national integration of our systems. These projects are typically a long-term initiative, implemented in phases to maximise operational efficiency and effectiveness.
In the role of Design Manager - Construction / Civils, you will collaborate with customers, project teams, internal stakeholders and subcontractors through the design and project phases; to deliver safe and suitable scope of works in line with the project objectives.
SRT Marine Systems plc runs a true hybrid working model, therefore, the role of Design Manager - Construction / Civils is commutable from such places as Bristol, Bath, Yeovil, Malvern, Tewkesbury, Newport, Filton, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Reading, Stroud, Worcester, Cardiff, Swansea, Bridgend, Cwmbran, Hereford and the surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities - Design Manager - Construction / Civils
Drive a Safety by Design approach for all projects
Ensure that the design processes are reviewed, communicated and implemented. Identify where deviations from processes are required and ensure that appropriate exceptions processes are implemented
Lead and review various civil project designs including reinforced concrete design and detailing, site design and enablement, land development, drainage systems, building and structure installation
Maintain compliance of CDM regulations and all other legal and regulatory requirements associated with the nature of designs
Undertake technical quality assurance reviews and provide design approval as required
Assist in the management of the tender process, understand and interpret scope of works, provide advice and expertise
Develop and implement policies, processes and procedures to support the continual improvement of the teams
Where appropriate and required, act as Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) or equivalent (project dependant)
Support in the advancement of the engineering design delivery for the teams, with particular focus on upskilling and use of software
Contribute to the development and updating of the design aids and computer programmes and assist in the analysis of new design concepts
Experience - Design Manager - Construction / Civils
Degree level education or equivalent with formal training in civil engineering and/or geotechnical engineering
Strong, proven experience in the civil engineering industry and the management and design of civil or geotechnical engineering works
Experience of civildesign for communication towers, data centres etc. would prove highly beneficial
Experience of international design knowledge would prove highly beneficial
IT Literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, CAD)
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication style to suite customer
