Job Details
You will support the development, delivery and coordination of Fife Bairns’ Hoose by working with partners to support children and their families through their care, protection and justice journey. You will contribute to the management of the service with specific responsibilities to oversee the work of Bairns’ Hoose Support staff, lead on complex areas of practice and ensure alignment with service priorities, whilst evaluating and reporting on outcomes and service user feedback.
Bairns’ Hoose is the Scottish Government’s commitment to provide children and young people across Scotland with access to trauma-informed recovery, support and justice. The Scottish Government selected Fife as one of it’s Bairns’ Hoose pathfinder sites in October. As part of Fife Bairns’ Hoose Project a temporary position has been developed for a Bairns’ Hoose Coordinator. This position will be based in Glenrothes but likely will require travel throughout Fife to meet with children and their families. This position will be contracted for 15 months on a full-time basis.
This is a new and exciting opportunity to be part of a developing service. You will have a wealth of experience of working directly with children who have suffered adverse childhood experiences. You will have knowledge of trauma informed practice, child development and the impact of abuse on children and young people. You will have skills to listen to, communicate with, and advocate for the rights of children and young people, as well as support the people who care for them. You will have experience of working collaboratively with other professionals such as Social Work, Health, Police and third sector organisations. You will support children, young people and the people who care for them to express their views and give feedback to help direct the development of the Bairns’ Hoose project in Fife.
You will:
1. be responsible for the line management and supervision of 2 Bairns’ Hoose Support Workers.
2. lead, manage and co-ordinate the activities of the service to achieve positive outcomes with and for children, young people and families.
3. lead the work of the team and ensure the quality of the service.
4. underpin the work of the team and service by providing a broad range of practice and administrative support functions, setting up and maintaining efficient administration and recording systems as required locally and within the wider organisation.
5. take a lead role in enabling the Bairns Hoose to be a place that welcomes children and families with kindness and care, creating a warm, friendly atmosphere.
6. be an advocate and champion for children’s rights.
7. shape and develop services in line with agreed objectives, respond to review of needs, gaps, and trends ensuring involvement of the individuals who use our service, and to oversee support services to those individuals in line with service delivery requirements.
8. participate in a range of external networks for the benefit of and with the participation of children, young people and families.
9. have experience of engaging children, young people and their families to gain their views to influence the development of Fife’s Bairns’ Hoose.
The Bairns’ Hoose Project Board will hold oversight of the Bairns’ Hoose Coordinator in respect of their role:

The Person
You will hold a Degree or Diploma in, or equivalent professional qualification at SCQF Level 9.
16. Significant experience and skills in delivering children’s services, including working with young people who have suffered trauma and/or been at risk of significant harm from abuse, violence and/or neglect.
17. Experience of working with parents and carers.
18. Knowledge of practice models; assessment frameworks and standards.
19. Knowledge and understanding of stakeholder objectives.
20. Experience in implementing systems and processes.

25. Knowledge of relevant Fife Council guidelines.

You will be required to register with your relevant regulatory body.
An ability to travel within Fife desirable.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
