Purpose
The role of a Senior Travel Consultant is to take responsibility for existing Abercrombie & Kent clients and build upon our rapidly growing client base. You will be creating memorable journeys, looking after the client from initial contact through to building itineraries, confirming travel arrangements, making contact upon their return, and setting up their next exciting experience of Abercrombie & Kent.
Responsibilities
Sales
* At the earliest opportunity, contact enquiries requesting a brochure to nurture initial interest into an active sales lead.
* Ensure familiarity with all product developments in your region, focusing on those promoted on the A&K website, brochures, magazines, and other marketing collateral, including special offers.
* Participate in daily morning catch‑ups with your Regional Sales Manager, reporting enquiries, quotes, pre‑ and post‑calls for the day.
* Routinely attend product training sessions, including company‑sponsored educational trips.
* Attend and actively participate in all learning opportunities, offering expertise to the training team where requested.
* Complete relevant educational pre‑ and post‑trip paperwork and deliver presentations to your team and office.
* Use effective questioning techniques to establish client requirements and create bespoke itineraries that match preferences.
* Ensure itinerary proposals with quotes are delivered within 24 hours; otherwise, keep the client updated on progress.
* Prepare quotes within acceptable margin parameters set by management.
* Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with the client throughout the booking process, keeping them informed on progress and status.
* Call the client pre‑travel and post‑travel to seek feedback and address any problems promptly.
* Encourage the client to complete a post‑travel questionnaire.
* Take responsibility for post‑travel problem solving in a professional, expedient, and diplomatic manner, aiming to exceed expectations and deliver total client satisfaction.
* Fully research all itineraries using in‑house system, Amadeus, manuals, guides, and consulting with ground handlers before finalisation.
General
* Reliably follow all company processes and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency, and recommend enhancements.
* Actively participate in and implement learning from all available hard and soft skills training.
* Provide cover for absent colleagues so that service delivery to clients is seamless.
* Represent Abercrombie & Kent at client events and trade exhibitions as a brand ambassador.
Revenue & Profitability
* Proactively manage itineraries from initial quote through to bookings and repeat business, ensuring maximum conversion and revenue.
* Be aware of individual and team sales targets, working to meet or exceed them.
* Maximise margin through adherence to margin guidelines and eliminate mistakes using the reservations system.
Sales Performance
* Actively promote A&K DMCs and end‑user products.
* Collect and increase client information to ensure relevant data is retained.
* Elicit and record reasons why proposed trips did not result in bookings to learn and improve.
* Sign off the file post‑travel, securing repeat business and recommendations.

* Experience in travel within this region (essential).
* Passionate about travel.
* Travel industry experience (desirable).
* Sales driven and focused.

* Keen to progress and develop a career within the travel industry.
