About Bosworth
Established in 1977 as a small tutorial college, today Bosworth is a leading independent school in the UK catering for boarding and day students from Year 7 upwards. Bosworth is a relatively small school of approximately 200 students, the majority of whom are boarders from overseas, though the school has a small cohort of day students who benefit from being at a school that is proudly international in character. The Team
The Senior Leadership Team at Bosworth Independent School is a dynamic and experienced group, dedicated to fostering a positive and forward-thinking school culture. Led by Headmaster Tony Oulton, the team includes Deputy Head Michael Hodgson, Assistant Head Pastoral Ita Coverdale, and Head of Boarding Jeff Shipway. The SLT is approachable, supports staff and students, and promotes professional growth through opportunities like National Professional Qualifications (NPQs). We emphasize work-life balance and staff well-being to foster a motivated and thriving team.

Role Overview
The Assistant Head (Academic) will lead and enhance teaching and learning quality, ensure high academic standards, support staff development, and shape the curriculum to meet the needs of our diverse students. The role involves consolidating strengths and evolving the educational philosophy, using data to inform strategies. Suitable for current senior or middle leaders seeking career progression.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Learning: Lead in developing high-quality teaching, implement evidence-based practices, monitor standards, and foster a culture of excellence.
2. Curriculum Development: Design and review a broad, inclusive, and engaging curriculum aligned with best practices and regulatory standards.
3. Assessment and Data Analysis: Oversee assessment policies, analyze performance data, and support interventions and reporting mechanisms.
4. Staff Development and Leadership: Lead CPD initiatives, mentor staff, and promote professional growth, including access to NPQs.

Qualifications and Experience

* BA in a relevant subject; postgraduate qualifications are desirable.
* Experience in academic leadership, curriculum design, and assessment.
* Knowledge of national/international curricula, mentoring, and teaching in independent/multicultural schools, and supporting EAL students.
