A lovely Primary School is seeking a committed and experienced School Bursar to their friendly and dedicated team. They are a vibrant, inclusive primary school located in the west of Birmingham, with a strong community ethos and a clear focus on nurturing every child’s potential.
About the Role
As School Bursar, you will be responsible for the efficient management of the school’s financial, administrative, and operational systems. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure effective budgeting, financial planning, and compliance with statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and monitor the school budget, including forecasting and reporting
* Prepare financial reports and advise the leadership team on financial matters
* Oversee payroll, procurement, invoicing, and school income
* Manage contracts, premises, and support services
* Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
* Line-manage administrative and finance support staff
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has experience in financial administration or a similar role (preferably in an education setting)
* Demonstrates strong financial, organisational, and communication skills
* Is confident using financial software and Microsoft Office
* Has a proactive, solution-focused approach and can work independently
* Understands school finance systems (e.g., SIMS, FMS) – desirable but not essential
* Holds relevant qualifications in finance or business management (or equivalent experience)
