An Exciting Opportunity to Join Our Growing Vascular Access Team at SBH
We are thrilled to announce a fantastic job opportunity within our expanding Vascular Access Team at SBH. We provide vascular access devices to both inpatients and outpatients, performing over a thousand procedures annually, including the placement of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs), Midlines, and PICC Ports.
As a Vascular Access Practitioner, you will become an autonomous, expert practitioner in the placement of ultrasound-guided PICCs, Midlines, and peripheral cannulas for adult patients. You will play a crucial role in delivering clinical excellence, ensuring optimal patient care through assessment, insertion, follow-up, and the management of vascular access device complications.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities:
·Clinical Excellence: Perform thorough patient assessments, insert vascular access devices, and manage any complications, ensuring the highest standard of care.
·Patient Education: Provide expert advice and education to patients and their carers on the care and management of vascular access devices.
·Staff Education: Educate and train staff on best practices for the care and management of vascular access devices.
·Quality Assurance: Conduct audits and actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.

Essential criteria
1. Registered Nurse
2. NMC registration
3. Competence in IV administration
Experience
Essential criteria
4. Extensive experience of working as a band 5 or above post registration.
Desirable criteria
5. Previous experience of working within a vascular access team;
6. Experience of working in an acute area (e.g. ITU, CCU, Theatre)
Knowledge

7. Demonstrates sound knowledge of infection prevention and control principles and their application in clinical practice
