Principal Naval Architect
Fareham/Hybrid/flexi locations
To £70,000 pa (dependent on experience) + excellent benefits

* You will be a highly skilled and experienced technical leader with demonstrable experience working in the maritime domain, specifically in ship structural Production Engineering/Detailed Design within the UK and internationally.
* You will hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Naval Architecture with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the marine industry.
* Leading a team of Naval Architects, you will have a strong background in Naval Architecture principles and the ability to apply these principles practically.
Job Responsibilities:
* You will be competent in fundamental Naval Architecture tasks such as hull design, stability calculation, weight calculation, performance prediction, model testing, seakeeping analysis, tank plan development, and arrangement drawings.
* Experience with various vessel types is desirable, including Crew Transfer Vessels, Service Operations Vessels, ferries, patrol boats, workboats, etc., covering diverse hull forms such as slow & high-speed catamarans, deep-v planning monohulls, semi-SWATHs, SWATHs, SES, Pentamaran, and others.
* Advanced skills in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD) and familiarity with specialist software like Maxsurf are advantageous for producing and reviewing design information.
* You should be commercially aware, ensuring work is carried out and completed to appropriate standards and levels of detail. You will produce clear, well-presented drawings and plans of a high quality. A high degree of initiative and self-drive is essential to meet targets and deadlines.
* You will have experience in Project Management, supervising and managing project teams, and guiding colleagues, including quality checks against standards.
Flexibility:This role is available part-time, job-share, or full-time. Our client values the best talent and recognizes that suitable candidates may not always be available full-time.
Location:The client’s office is based in Fareham, with flexible and hybrid working arrangements considered. Travel to customer sites or meetings will be required.
