Overview
We\'re working with a leading manufacturer of electrical control panels and switchboards in Newmarket, seeking an electrically biased Sales Engineer to strengthen their commercial team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in electrical engineering who enjoys working closely with customers to deliver tailored technical solutions.
Responsibilities
* Engage with customers to understand technical requirements and propose tailored solutions for switchboards, MCCs, and control panels.
* Prepare detailed and commercially competitive quotations and tenders.
* Review customer drawings, specifications, and tender documents to define the best solution.
* Act as the main technical and commercial point of contact throughout the pre-sales process.
* Collaborate with internal design, production, and procurement teams to ensure proposals are feasible, accurate, and aligned with project needs.
* Maintain strong knowledge of industry standards (ISO 9001, BS EN, UL/CUL).
* Support the smooth handover of projects from quotation to fulfilment.
* Develop long-term customer relationships to drive repeat business and market growth.
About You
* Background in electrical engineering, sales engineering, or applications engineering within control systems or LV distribution.
* Experience preparing quotations, proposals, or tenders for electrical control panels or related products.
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of cost structures.
* Excellent communication and client relationship skills - confident discussing both technical and commercial matters.
* Ability to interpret electrical schematics, layouts, and tender documents.
* Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing multiple enquiries simultaneously.
* Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, or UL standards would be advantageous.
