Academics, a trusted education recruitment agency, are currently working in partnership with a specialist school in the Lichfield area to recruit a committed and confident Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex and challenging behaviour. This is a long-term, full-time opportunity with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate. You will play a vital role in transforming the lives of children who need additional guidance and structure to achieve their potential.
About the Role:
You will be working with pupils who may be at risk of exclusion, have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, or have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups within the classroom and during unstructured times.
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies.
Using de-escalation techniques and consistent routines to manage incidents and reduce disruption.
Building trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model and offering emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.
Encouraging engagement in education and celebrating small milestones in a pupil's personal or learning journey.Candidate Requirements:
Have previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural challenges, ideally in an education, care, or community setting.
Are emotionally resilient and able to remain calm and composed during behavioural incidents.
Can build rapport quickly and maintain a patient and non-judgemental attitude.
Hold (or are willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS registered to the update service.What Academics Offers You:
