About the role:Our client is a well-established and respected professional practice of Chartered Surveyors with a reputation for delivering high-quality cost consultancy services. They are now looking to appoint a skilled Quantity Surveyor or Senior Cost Manager to join their growing team based in Chelmsford.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of exciting and innovative projects, including zero carbon, Passivhaus, modular construction, residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes. You’ll be responsible for providing accurate cost advice and commercial management throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility through to final account.
You’ll be joining a collaborative, Associate Director-led team, where you will also support and supervise more junior team members. The company offers a flexible, friendly, and progressive working environment that encourages personal development and career progression.
Quantity Surveyor -Day-to-day responsibilities include:
* Preparing accurate cost estimates, cost plans, and financial viability assessments
* Advising on procurement strategies and producing relevant documentation
* Administering contracts and conducting valuations
* Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures
* Providing monthly cost reports and managing variations and final accounts
* Liaising with both residential and commercial clients across multiple projects
Quantity Surveyor -About you:
* You will be RICS-qualified (or nearing qualification) with relevant experience in cost consultancy or private practice
* You have demonstrable experience working across various contract types, including traditional and design & build
* You’re confident in project and cost reporting and have a commercial mindset
* You are professional, diplomatic, and comfortable advising clients directly
* You’re a collaborative team player, able to support junior colleagues where needed
