Breakfast Club Play Worker (The Lighthouse Club at Horwich Parish) – Part time
Required: Immediate start for a fixed term contract until 31 August 2026
Job title: Out of School Club Play Worker
Reporting to: The Head Teacher/Deputy Manager
Grade: A Scale Point 2 – £9,197 - £9,341 per annum (actual salary)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:40am – 8:40am and 3:10pm – 5:30pm. Term time only.
Start date: Immediate start
The governors are seeking a successful wrap-around school club play worker who is passionate, highly motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the operation of a before school and after school club in accordance with agreed policies.
* Ensure provision of high quality childcare and appropriate play opportunities for all children attending the club.
* Liaise with parents and other appropriate agencies.
* Provide good quality, inclusive, safe play and care, including meeting children’s individual needs, supervising activities and outings, providing refreshments, and collecting/delivering children as necessary.
* Prepare healthy snacks for children and escort them to their classes in time for registration.
* Provide quality, creative, developmentally appropriate play opportunities in a safe, child-centred environment using a Children’s Rights-Based approach.
* Support children with additional needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, physical disabilities) after appropriate training.
* Assist in programme planning and activity development.
* Encourage parental and community involvement and participate in events to raise the club’s profile.
* Support the development of the club and strive to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Liaise with parents, schools and other agencies to promote the club and ensure well-being of children and young people.
* Ensure premises and equipment are kept clean and safe; be responsible for security when necessary in line with Health and Safety legislation.
* Administer first aid when appropriately qualified and apply safeguarding requirements as needed.
* Support the Deputy Manager in working towards Ofsted standards.
* Work within agreed policies, maintain good practice, and operate within an equal opportunities framework.
* Wear a uniform (if provided) and identification when working in the relevant Club.
* Work flexibly, including early mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Additional details
The post holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility allocated by the Head Teacher to meet the needs of the school.
