Location: Backwell, North Somerset
Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £32,916 – £49,232 (M1 – UPS2)
Start Date: September 2026


Join a New Specialist School and Help Shape Its Future

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Primary Teacher to join a brand-new specialist education setting opening in Autumn 2026.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in establishing a nurturing, inclusive, and ambitious learning environment for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school will provide a safe, enriching, and aspirational setting where every learner is supported to achieve their full potential.


The Role

As a Primary Teacher, you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning tailored to pupils with Autism and associated needs. You will create engaging and differentiated lessons, support individual progress, and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide outstanding educational experiences.


Key Responsibilities

* Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet individual learning needs

* Monitoring pupil progress and reporting to parents, carers, and senior leaders

* Leading a subject or curriculum area and supporting colleagues where appropriate

* Managing and supervising classroom support staff

* Creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

* Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, equality, and health & safety policies


About You

We are looking for a dedicated teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils with additional needs.


Essential Qualifications

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent


Essential Experience

* Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally Autism

* Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum up to GCSE level

* Excellent classroom management, planning, and assessment skills

* Ability to remain calm, resilient, and positive in challenging situations


Desirable

* Postgraduate qualification in Autism or SEN specialism

* Experience working within a specialist or special school setting
