Job Summary
We are seeking a Clinical Research Officer to support increasing patient participation in clinical trials within Hywel Dda University Health Board. The role involves recruiting, educating, monitoring trial patients, and ensuring accurate data collection. You will assess and perform clinical procedures, integrating into the clinical team during patient involvement.
Main duties of the job
1. Work initially under supervision, progressing to autonomous management of clinical trial patients.
2. Identify suitable patients for trials by screening medical records and attending clinics.
3. Participate in Multi-disciplinary Team meetings.
4. Use clinical knowledge to select patients based on inclusion/exclusion criteria, utilizing NHS records, ward visits, and outpatient assessments.
5. Conduct research activities such as obtaining informed consent.
6. Perform physical assessments, collect samples, and process them per protocol.
7. Understand treatment options, side effects, and disease processes to support patient decisions.
8. Ensure trial investigations are performed as per protocol and results are obtained to confirm eligibility and safety.
9. Administer trial-related treatments safely within the trial framework.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
* Allied Healthcare professional/health-related degree
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* HCPC registration if applicable
Desirable: Knowledge of clinical/research terminology.
Experience:
* Clinical NHS experience
* Proven target achievement
* Proficiency with data systems and Microsoft Office
Desirable: Previous clinical research experience; knowledge of LMPS system.
Skills and Attributes: Ability to communicate complex information effectively.
Other: Ability to travel within the area; Welsh Speaker (Level 1) is desirable.
