To be a clinical expert and have overall continuing responsibility for thedelivery of high quality patient care in the Intensive Care unit, andSurgical HDU demonstrating clinical leadership.
Main duties of the job
? Carries out specialist nursing procedures in caring for critically ill adults? To be responsible for the supervision and development of all nurses,students (including medical students on placement) and supportworkers.? To contribute to the effective management of the department resources including, pay and non-pay budgets, human resources and the clinical environment.? To contribute to the development of polices and evidence-basedpractice as appropriate.? To maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care.

Education and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* ENB Nursing Course relevant to specialty
* Practise Assessor Workshop/Mentorship Course (previously ENB 998)
Experience
* Demonstrable experience to a high level of competence in a relevant specialty
* Experience of managing, supervising and appraising staff
* Experience of managing a budget and other resources
* Evidence of Managed a team
Skills and Aptitudes
* Leadership and team building skills
* Computer skills-competent in outlook, word and excel
* Ability to communicate concisely and effectively both in writing and verbally e.g. to overcome language barriers, when teaching patients and staff, to elicit information from patients regarding private matters, health problems and health status
* Ability to prioritize workload
* Good interpersonal skills
* Competent to administer intravenous medication
* Competent in intravenous cannulation / phlebotomy.
