SEMH Support Assistant - September 2025 Start

Are you looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people this September? Do you have experience, whether through work, study, or personal life, supporting individuals with emotional, behavioural, or additional needs?
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist SEMH school and are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and resilient individual to join their team as a full-time SEMH Support Assistant from September 2025.
The Role:
You'll be supporting students aged 11-16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Many also present with additional diagnoses such as autism (ASD), ADHD, or behavioural challenges.
Your responsibilities may include:
* Providing 1:1 or small group support in the classroom
* Helping students manage their emotions and behaviour
* Building strong, supportive relationships
* Promoting progress in learning, confidence, and social development
* Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
* Assisting with personal care when needed (training provided)
Who This Role Would Suit:
* Psychology, criminology, or education graduates looking for hands-on experience
* Care workers, residential support staff, or healthcare assistants
* Youth workers, sports/activity leaders, or pastoral mentors
* Individuals with personal or professional experience of SEN, SEMH, or behaviour support
* Anyone with a calm, empathetic nature looking for a rewarding role
What You'll Need:
* Experience working or volunteering with children, young people, or vulnerable adults
* A resilient and compassionate attitude
* Confidence in supporting challenging behaviour (training provided)
* A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
