We are looking for an Estates Assistant to join our Crown House Estates team, providing support and caretaking services to the Crown estate in Darwen, Blackburn.
The Estates Assistant will report to the Estates and Facilities Manager and be part of a wider team including CDC Estates, Reception, and Post Room facilities.
Standard hours: 7am to 2pm.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain all demised areas of the Crown House estate to an agreed standard.
2. Consider the financial impact of any works.
3. Ensure basic facilities such as water, lighting, and heating are well-maintained and faults are addressed promptly.
4. Collaborate with contractors and suppliers for delivering goods, services, and projects.
5. Respond to emergencies and urgent issues, including acting as Crown House Fire Warden and First Aider when required.
6. Ensure staff compliance with parking policies and report unresolved issues.
7. Maintain supplies in washrooms and photocopying areas.
8. Resolve or report office machinery issues.
9. Manage waste and storage facilities, liaising with Nimtech as needed.
10. Perform caretaking duties including housekeeping, maintenance, parcel distribution, and furniture repair.
11. Assist with office relocations within Crown House.
12. Register incidents and near misses.
13. Conduct compliance inspections.
14. Act as a first point of contact for colleagues on various issues.
Candidate Requirements:
* GCSE level education or equivalent.
* First Aid at Work Certificate.
* Health & safety qualification (desirable).
* Understanding of risk assessments and work permits; previous experience preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Basic maintenance skills and machinery understanding (e.g., photocopiers).
* Reliable, punctual, flexible.
* Good communication skills.
* Team player with ability to work independently.
* Confident, pleasant, assertive manner.
