In-house dispute resolution and claims handling for UK & Ireland businesses. This role will be based in the United Kingdom, preferably in Bristol Office.
Reports to Senior Litigation Business Partner.
1. Delivery of accurate, commercial, timely, and cost-effective legal advice to resolve complaints and disputes to avoid margin erosion and minimize reputational risk.
2. Managing a portfolio of claims and disputes: Professional negligence / professional indemnity claims, fee claims, debt recovery, project disputes, procurement issues under public sector contracts, insurance coverage disputes, health and safety and regulatory matters including prosecutions and enforcement.
3. Claims handling involves: initial review, assembling and leading an internal claims team, securing documents, identifying witnesses, setting dispute resolution strategies, notifying insurers, instructing external solicitors, managing costs, maintaining records, reporting, and managing litigation.
4. Advising project and bid teams on contractual and legal issues.
5. Providing strategic and commercial advice on disputes to UK & Ireland businesses and global management.
6. Assisting in designing and delivering UK & Ireland claims and disputes strategy, including training, guidance notes, statistical analysis, and risk management advice.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. First degree or equivalent, preferably in law.
2. Solicitor with current practicing certificate in England and Wales.
3. 2+ years PQE in dispute resolution, ideally both private practice and in-house.
4. Knowledge of professional negligence, construction, engineering litigation, adjudication, mediation, and health and safety law.
5. Additional knowledge in environmental law, company law, EU law, and advocacy is advantageous.
