Volunteer Trustee with Benefits Advice Experience - Nystagmus Network
The Nystagmus Network is seeking a dedicated volunteer trustee with experience in benefits advice to support individuals and families affected by nystagmus. Join us to help shape the strategic direction of this impactful eye health charity and make a real difference in the community.
About the Role
As a trustee, you will contribute to the growth and effectiveness of the charity, which aims to raise awareness, change attitudes, and drive research related to nystagmus. Your expertise in benefits advice will support our mission to provide vital support and information to the community.
Responsibilities
* Help shape the strategic direction of the charity
* Support community members through advice and guidance on benefits
* Attend quarterly meetings (one full Saturday four times a year)
* Participate in bi-monthly phone calls
* Support at beneficiary events and Nystagmus Awareness Day
* Potentially provide limited one-to-one support
* Fulfill legal responsibilities as a trustee under charity law
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in benefits advice, particularly for those with lifelong health conditions or disabilities. Enthusiasm, commitment, and a passion for our cause are essential. Interest from people with nystagmus or other visual impairments is also encouraged. All appointments are subject to a DBS check.
Additional Information
This is a voluntary position, and the minimum time commitment is four full Saturdays annually, along with bi-monthly calls and occasional event support. The role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in a small but ambitious charity.
