We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated candidate to join our Level 4 Digital Apprenticeship Programme at Leeds City Council. This role will assist with the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of digital systems and services. As a Level 4 Apprentice - Digital (Software Tester), you will gain practical experience and training in various aspects of IT support and development, contributing to the efficient operation of the organisation's digital infrastructure.
This opportunity is part of our IT Talent Management Programme offering new routes into digital careers at the council. You will work within our Testing Team in the Integrated Digital Services team, supporting staff IT needs and delivering online services for residents. The apprenticeship offers a foundation for a rewarding career in tech, with exposure to digital transformation projects and development, mentorship, and training.
You will work towards the BCS Level 4 Certificate in Software Development Fundamentals, ISTQB Foundation, ISTQB Foundation Agile Tester extension, and Cyber Secure Coder qualifications.
Job Purpose
Support the implementation, development, and maintenance of digital systems and services within Leeds City Council, enhancing the council's online presence and ensuring digital tools are secure and user-friendly.
Programme Structure
The programme provides comprehensive training and practical experience, including:
1. Working with teams in data analysis, cyber security, software development/testing, and DevOps.
2. Pairing with a senior mentor for guidance and career development.
3. Participating in training sessions, workshops, and seminars.
4. Contributing to digital projects impacting local government operations and public services.
Responsibilities
* Assist in developing and maintaining digital platforms and systems.
* Provide technical support and ensure network security and data protection.
* Participate in digital projects from planning to implementation.
* Maintain records of IT assets, requests, and incidents.
* Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
* Collaborate across teams to support digital initiatives.
* Support the development of reporting dashboards.
* Stay updated with digital trends and technologies.
Candidate Requirements
* Interest in data interpretation, software delivery, and cloud platforms.
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A-C), including English and Maths desirable.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Knowledge of IT and data systems, with willingness to learn new technologies.
* Positive attitude and commitment to customer service.
