The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is recruiting a dedicated Teacher of Economics and Business Studies to join its expanding Commerce Faculty. The role involves teaching A Level Economics and GCSE Business Studies across Key Stages 4 and 5, while supporting enterprise and financial literacy initiatives. The successful candidate will be an inspiring, research-informed teacher committed to high-quality classroom practice and student achievement. They will contribute to faculty development and deliver an ambitious, engaging curriculum that supports academic success and builds students’ economic, entrepreneurial, and financial skills, preparing them for future opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, deliver and assess A-Level Economics and GCSE Business Studies with high expectations, contributing to whole-School enterprise provision.
2. Demonstrate strong subject knowledge, relevant pedagogy and awareness of current developments in Economics and Business.
3. Design flexible, creative and well-sequenced lessons aligned to curriculum goals and learners’ needs.
4. Use varied teaching, learning and behaviour strategies to personalise learning and support all students in achieving their potential.
5. Accurately assess progress, provide effective feedback, ensure accountability for outcomes and address underperformance with timely interventions.
6. Communicate with parents, support absent students’ learning, promote cross-curricular links, stay updated on national developments, and follow all School policies.
7. Serve as a Boarding Tutor, overseeing the welfare, academic progress, and personal development of a tutor group.
8. Contribute to boarding life, including weekday duties, weekend supervision, prep monitoring, and support for house activities and pastoral meetings.
