Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor at iHus plays a key role in ensuring the commercial success of our timber-frame annexe projects. This is a fast-paced, detail-focused position requiring strong commercial awareness, analytical accuracy, and real energy and enthusiasm
Predominantly office-based, the role supports multiple live and upcoming projects, providing cost control, procurement support, commercial reporting, and clear financial guidance to the wider team
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Purchasing, Design and Sales helping to drive value, manage risk, and support continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Cost Management
* Prepare, manage, and review project material budgets
* Monitor project expenditure and identify cost risks and opportunities
* Maintain live cost trackers and forecasts
* Report variances and propose mitigation measures
* Support tight financial control across all projects
Reporting & Commercial Insight
* Produce regular commercial reports for senior management
* Provide input into planning, value engineering, and programme reviews
* Identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
Procurement & Coordination
* Work closely with Purchasing and Operations to support procurement schedules
* Produce and review bills of quantities and specifications
* Monitor material usage, labour costs, subcontractor spend, and variations
Collaboration & Communication
* Work proactively with Project Managers, Designers, Purchasing & Sales
* Attend progress meetings and contribute commercial insight
* Champion the use of iHus systems and digital platforms for accurate data management
What We're Looking For
Knowledge & Skills
* Strong understanding of construction cost management
* Experience within timber-frame, modular, or residential construction preferred
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
* Confident commercial judgement and ability to challenge and influence
* Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
* Proficiency with estimating tools, financial trackers, and Microsoft Office
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
* Experience within a construction environment
* Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial reporting
* CDM certification or training desirable
* Full, clean UK driving licence (occasional site visits required)
