Overview
Five AI Cambridge Five - "Driving Autonomy" is at the forefront of European efforts to develop automated driving systems. We are driving innovation within the Automated Driving Alliance, a strategic partnership between Bosch and Volkswagen Group's CARIAD, and we lead efforts to create, manage, and evaluate cloud-based simulation within a state-of-the-art standardised software platform. Our automotive partners rely on our engineering, science, development, and design capabilities to build safer, smarter, and more scalable autonomous driving solutions. Responsibilities
* You will join the Applied Research team led by Dr. Puneet Dokania and contribute to state-of-the-art machine learning research that informs autonomous driving technology.
* Collaborate on projects focused on building accurate, efficient, and reliable Vision-Language-Action models for driving in urban scenarios, and contribute to publications at top venues.
* Develop and evaluate cloud-based simulation and related tooling within a robust software platform to support autonomous driving research and product development.
* Engage in translating research ideas into scalable engineering solutions, with opportunities to publish and present results at leading conferences.
* Join a multinational, low-ego, collaborative team environment and contribute to impactful projects in a practical, industry-facing context.
Qualifications
* You hold a Master’s or PhD in computer vision, machine learning, or a closely related field.
* You have experience supporting machine learning development by building and maintaining a modern MLOps stack using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud services (Azure). 2+ years of experience is preferable; fresh graduates with solid academics and strong motivation will be considered.
* You have experience in pre-training, fine-tuning, and benchmarking large-scale machine learning models.
* You are a competent programmer, preferably in Python, with experience in popular ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
* You have excellent communication skills and enjoy collaborating with researchers and engineers.
* While not mandatory, a strong publication record in top venues (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, SIGGRAPH) strengthens your application.
* You are a scientist who is also keen to perform engineering work (e.g., MLOps) to support scientific progress and build innovative products.

The position will be within our Applied Research team and contribute to cutting-edge research in machine learning for autonomous driving. The group regularly publishes high-quality papers at top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TMLR) and seeks to translate research into practical, scalable solutions.
