Role Profile – Planning Engineer
Reports to: Head of Planning
Department: Planning
Location: Twin Peaks, St Athan
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, 37.5 hours
Salary: £40,505.92 per annum

Role Summary:

Part of an effective, high performing team, the Planning Engineer is responsible for planning all maintenance requirements and ensuring they are performed and completed in accordance with the MPD, AMP and the Customer’s requirements. Working within Part 145 Regulations, the Planning Engineer will effectively manage key planning processes to ensure all maintenance inputs are compliant with all airworthiness requirements and maximises aircraft serviceability. The Planning Engineer will be the interface between the Owner/Operator and Third Parties involved in the input.

Main responsibilities:

* Undertakes Lead Role with allocated Planner, project manages aircraft maintenance work pack.
* Initiates the build-up of the work pack in accordance with Company Procedures and Processes to ensure all relevant aircraft maintenance folders have been created.
* Assembles the work pack received from the Customer.
* Analyses and stages the work pack.
* Identifies CMT, CDCCL, EWIS, EZAP and ETOPS tasks.
* Creates and carries out regular audits and updates of List of Work (LOW) containing the final work scope.
* Controls the Customer Query Log and revisions.
* Writes staged task cards to ensure all aspects of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Modifications, Engineering Order instructions are captured and understood. Highlights relevant information in the Extended Narrative of the task cards.
* Captures all effective materials and tooling, ensuring materials and tooling are added to every card and the LOW is updated.
* Utilises appropriate data platforms e.g. Oases, Amos, MyBoeingFleet and Airbus World to manage aircraft maintenance inputs.
* Sends pre-load to Procurement and Stores Departments.
* Captures and manages all additional tasks in accordance with Company processes and procedures.
* Manages the requirement for third party inputs to meet the aircraft maintenance requirements.
* Prepares and chairs Pre-Input Meetings prior to aircraft arrival.
* Communicates the project plan to the Production Planning team.
* Monitors progress, re-plans and schedules additional work prior to aircraft input.
* On aircraft arrival, reviews ATL and all ADDs and captures through NRCs and WCRs.
* Organises, and presents the work pack to the Production team.
* Notifies the Planning Supervisor when the work pack is ready for audit.
* Performs regular audits on Work packs, before issue.
* Ensures all MOE and Customer procedures and processes are observed by the Planning team during project delivery.
* Actively contributes to the development and continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures.
* Any other tasks and duties as reasonably required in accordance with the needs of the business and within the capabilities of the individual.

Key requirements include:

* Relevant and demonstrable experience within an aircraft maintenance environment.
* Previous experience within an aviation MRO part 145 (or equivalent) environment
* Detailed knowledge of engineering planning processes and procedures
* A minimum of 5 GCSE’s, grade C or above, (or equivalent) including Maths and English Language.
* Appropriate technical qualification such as an engineering apprenticeship, or HNC or City & Guilds in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Flexible – willing and able to respond to changing circumstances and expectations readily.
* Diligent – thoroughness in accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved, no matter how small. Monitors and checks work.
* Working knowledge of EASA Part 145 Regulation and CAP 562
