Process Maintenance Engineer
Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment is seeking a Process Maintenance Engineer for our fast-growing, international client in the Port Talbot area. The client values continuous growth and development, fostering a culture where employees can reach their full potential and drive organizational excellence.
Main Purpose of the Role
The PME supports the factory by ensuring all preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance tasks are carried out according to schedules and through the IFS Service and Maintenance system. The role involves executing maintenance with a focus on 'Right First Time,' reporting work and issues accurately, and minimizing downtime. The PME may also support capital projects and learn new processes to gain specialized knowledge, using high-tech tools for equipment reliability and developing maintenance knowledge among production staff.
Principal Site Accountabilities
* Work safely, utilizing Permit to Work and Hazard Awareness Forms, with lock-off systems in place.
* Create and follow preventative and predictive maintenance plans on IFS.
* Perform reactive maintenance, including out-of-hours support.
* Accurately record all work details in IFS, including parts used and work duration.
* Manage critical spares and ensure all site records are up to date.
* Manage statutory inspections, annual services, and engineering stores, implementing 5S practices.
* Maintain a safe working environment, report H&S incidents, and create an engineering knowledge library.
Principal Responsibilities
* Undertake preventive and reactive maintenance as per schedules.
* Implement predictive maintenance schedules and perform timely repairs.
* Address breakdowns efficiently, aiming for first-time repairs.
* Use appropriate tools, maintain spare parts stock, and manage local service contacts.
* Support projects and participate in out-of-hours on-call duties.
* Update KPI reports, manage maintenance plans, and control stock on IFS.
* Develop procedures linked to asset registers and maintain workplace organization (5S).
* Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and readiness for audits, and handle inspection issues promptly.
Health and Safety
* Raise permits and hazard forms before work, lock off processes, and wear PPE.
* Promote a safety culture, report issues immediately, and ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
* Carry out risk assessments for new tasks in collaboration with the Site Safety Representative.
Qualifications and Skills
* Trade qualification and good IT skills.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in Process Maintenance Engineering.
* Personable, approachable, and a team player.
* Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Flexible, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking under pressure.
Location and Salary
Port Talbot, on-site. Salary: £38,000 per annum. Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Thursday 8:30 am–4:30 pm, Friday 7:30 am–3:30 pm.
