ReeVR has partnered with an innovative and fast-growing engineering business that specialises in the design and manufacture of advanced robotic and automation systems. They are committed to delivering high-performance, practical automation solutions that enhance productivity and efficiency across multiple industries.
Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, product development, and manufacturing processes, with excellent SolidWorks skills. Experience within robotics, automation, or special-purpose machinery would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for robotic and automation systems using SolidWorks.
* Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
* Work collaboratively with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
* Conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and tolerance analyses.
* Support prototype development, testing, and design validation.
* Optimise designs for cost, manufacturability, and performance.
* Maintain accurate engineering documentation and drawings.
* Provide technical input to improve and refine existing systems.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* 3–5 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within robotics, automation, or industrial machinery.
* Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, detailing, and simulation).
* Solid understanding of mechanical systems, gears, and motion components.
* Experience with materials selection and manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, 3D printing).
* Knowledge of GD&T, FEA, and design validation principles.
* Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Experience with PDM systems.
* Familiarity with robotic arms, conveyors, or custom automation equipment.
* Understanding of pneumatic or electro‑mechanical actuation.
* Awareness of relevant safety and compliance standards (ISO, CE, RIA).
