Children's Residential Support Worker - Learning Disabilities Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire Salary: £12.50 - £13.50 per hour Hours: 36 hours per week Shifts: Day or Night shifts available (Day Shifts: 8:00am - 8:00pm / Night Shifts: 8:00pm - 8:00am) Contract: Permanent, Full-Time We are recruiting Children's Residential Support Workers for a specialist children's residential care home in Stevenage, supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs, including challenging behaviours. The service operates with high staffing levels, delivering 3:1 or 4:1 support. This ensures a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for both children and staff. This role is suitable for both experienced support workers and those new to children's residential care, as full specialist training is provided. Key Duties and Responsibilities Provide high-quality, child-centred care within a residential setting Support children and young people with learning disabilities and autism Work safely within 3:1 or 4:1 staffing ratios Support individuals with emotional regulation and challenging behaviour Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans Promote independence, daily living skills, and positive routines Maintain accurate documentation and daily records Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and Ofsted requirements Training and Development No experience required - Full specialist induction and training programme provided PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training provided if not already held Ongoing training, supervision, and professional development Clear progression opportunities within children's residential care Candidate Requirements Interest in working with children and young people with additional needs Calm, patient, and resilient approach Ability to work alternate weekends Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to safeguarding and high standards of care No previous experience is required.
