Why Yorkshire Water?

Yorkshire Water delivers essential water and wastewater services to over 5.4 million people. We protect the environment, support communities, and help shape Yorkshire's future by tackling climate change, planning for droughts and floods, and solving regional challenges. We need talented graduates to help us do it.

Your Graduate Programme

Our two-year programme offers five placements across your allocated business area, with additional placements to suit your development needs in core functions such as Finance, Health & Safety, People, and Procurement. You will gain hands-on experience, technical and leadership training, and support from mentors, managers, graduate alumni, and our Early in Careers team. By the end, you'll be ready to step into a permanent role.

Your Team

Our Wastewater function provides essential operational environmental service to 5.4 million domestic customers and 2.5 thousand business customers across the Yorkshire region. We manage 1 billion litres per day of wastewater through 52,000km of sewer networks and thousands of pumping stations to 640 Wastewater Treatment Works. Treated sludge is used to generate renewable energy and create biosolids products for agriculture. We are recruiting a number of Operational Leadership and Technical Specialist Graduates in the Wastewater function.

Your Role

As a Wastewater Graduate you will:

* Have tailored placements as part of our wastewater teams to develop a foundation of skills and knowledge across operational wastewater processes, customer journey, and the work of our 980-strong team.
* Work with Operational Field Managers, Technical Optimisers and maintenance teams to deliver 24/7 quality and compliant treatment services.
* Work with the Customer Field Services team to proactively manage sewer network assets and resolve customer problems.
* Gain experience with Asset Management, delivering capital programmes and strategic planning for the future.
* Deliver outputs in the River Health team, supporting environmental performance requirements, regulatory reporting, and relationships with the Environment Agency; engage with community groups and external bodies to deliver strategic objectives.
* Deliver operational excellence projects to drive continuous improvement in performance.
* Be supported to shape your development programme toward personal career goals and business needs, with the aim of becoming a future Operational Leader or Technical Specialist in wastewater service delivery.

What you'll need to be successful:

* Minimum 2:1 Bachelors degree, ideally in a Science, Engineering, Environment, Geography or similar discipline
* Full clean UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across the region
* Enthusiasm and a drive to succeed
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong collaboration and team-working abilities
* Resilience to work in a dynamic environment under pressure and ability to prioritise workload
