An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Resuscitation Service Team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. We are delighted to offer two vacancies for the role of Senior Resuscitation Practitioner (SRP):
One post covering the WGH/SRH sites (Worthing Hospital / St Richard's Hospital)
One post covering the RSCH/PRH sites (Royal Sussex County Hospital / Princess Royal Hospital)
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced resuscitation practitioner to contribute to high-quality education, clinical leadership, and service development within a dynamic and supportive team.
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Resuscitation Practitioner will be responsible for the provision of mandatory resuscitation training for all medical, nursing, and ancillary staff employed by the Trust. In support of the Lead Resuscitation Practitioner (LRP), the post holder will prepare, deliver, and monitor training programmes to ensure compliance with national standards and organisational requirements.
The SRP will also devise, prepare, and deliver resuscitation training to external organisations to generate income for the Trust. The post holder will interpret national resuscitation guidelines, advising on local policies and procedures relating to resuscitation practice. As an active member of the Resuscitation Operational Management Group (ROMG), the SRP will provide professional advice and feedback on matters including audit, equipment, and training.
On their designated main sites, the SRP will undertake a clinical role as a key member of the cardiac arrest team and the paediatric emergency team, attending medical emergency, cardiac arrest, and paediatric emergency calls. The post holder will provide expert clinical advice and support to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
During rostered shifts at the Trust’s Community Diagnostic Centres, the SRP will respond to emergencies and act as the senior clinician on site, providing leadership, guidance, and expert support to CDC staff.

Regularly adapts/modifies communication techniques within teaching and clinical emergencies to meet the different needs and levels of understanding of health care staff through to parents and relatives.
Possess and utilise good communication skills for formal presentations to relevant groups and committees, teaching, facilitation, and role play during planned teaching in the classroom and simulations in a clinical environment.
Work closely with the Resuscitation Services team in the creation and review of Trust policies and procedures relating to Resuscitation, ensuring that such policies and procedures accurately reflect best practice as agreed nationally.
Manage allocated training by preparing appropriate handouts, equipment and training venue. Feedback any issues of concern, raised during training, to either the Senior Resuscitation Practitioners or the Lead Resuscitation Practitioner.
Perform clinical interventions at speed and with a high degree of precision (e.g. defibrillation, cardioversion, transcutaneous pacing, cannulation, intra-osseous needle insertion, laryngeal mask insertion, intubation) as required during resuscitation within sphere of competence and policy, and with due regard to safety and expertise of other team members.

Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
1. Experience in resuscitation training and practice.
2. Current registration as a nurse, paramedic or operating department practitioner
3. Ability to apply and expertly teach evidence based clinical procedures/practice to a range of students in under & postgraduate training.
4. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
5. Able to use/manipulate extensive range of clinical and teaching equipment.
6. Experience of direct line management, or supervision and mentorship/preceptorship.
7. Demonstrate awareness of budget limitations and operate and perform within them.
8. Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS, PILS, ALS, EPALS, NLS and or ALSG APLS instructor or instructor candidate status
9. Acute clinical experience at Band 6 or above
10. Relevant Post Registration Qualification in acute / critical care or relevant qualification or experience
11. Record of continuing professional development.
12. Demonstrate high standard of clinical practice
13. Evidence of theoretical and practical application of adult learning theories
14. Willingness to study towards PGCE or equivalent
15. Knowledge of audit and policy review

16. Course director in at least one of RCUK ALS, EPALS or NLS or ALSG APLS.
17. Experience of carry out staff appraisals.
18. Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or similar
