About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading HR related activities within the department, managing the interactions between the department, Faculty and UCL’s central HR teams. This includes directing the staff recruitment function, managing the on boarding of staff from induction through probation to regular appraisal, and acting as the first point of contact for all HR-related staffing queries. In addition, the Senior Human Resources Officer will provide high-level support to the Director, Departmental Manager and line managers, providing advice and guidance on HR processes and policies, employee relations issues and actively supporting managers and staff to follow appropriate HR procedures.

This role is initially fixed for two years in the first instance, with a possibility of further extension.

About you

You will have experience of delivering effective and timely Human Resources administration, within the Higher Education Sector (or comparable working environment) and of implementing and advising on HR policies, procedures and processes effectively. You will possess an excellent knowledge of employment legislation and have the enthusiasm to update this knowledge on a regular basis. Together with your successful track record of implementing and advising on HR policies, procedures and processes effectively, you will be confident in leading recruitment and selection processes, including providing advice and guidance on relevant legislation and best practice processes. In addition, you will have up-to-date knowledge and a sound understanding of equality, immigration and data protection law. The ideal candidate would possess a Professional HR qualification such as CIPD but this is not essential.
