Do you want to work in a practice where your voice is truly heard, paying up to £65,000?
At Glasgow Pollokshaws Vets for Pets, we are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to come and join our lovely team. We are looking for a full-time vet to work alongside an established team of 3 experienced Vets and 5 RVN’S including our head RVN Lucy, who has a wealth of experience and over 20 years in the industry. We also have our Practice Manager Lorna and 4 Client Care Advisors. We are a RCVS approved nurse training practice and certified at general practice level by the RCVS practice standards scheme. We opened in 2014 with a small team but moved premises in 2019 and have gone from strength to strength. We are now a well-established small animal practice which has been purpose built to market leading standards.
The practice is independently run, by Michelle for over 10 years. Michelle graduated nearly 20 years ago and has a keen interest in all aspects of GP practice. Michelle is also a Vet GDP advisor and is happy to mentor and support new graduates in practice. She is supported by a fantastic team, who are committed to delivering an outstanding level of service in the community and through this they have a real “proud to be part of the team” work ethos.
Michelle and her team strive to support each other and create a place of work that everyone can have their voices listened to and respected. This has developed an excellent work environment which continues outside of work with staff outings such as the Summer and Christmas do!
As an experienced vet with a growth mind-set, we would like someone who is confident with consults and surgery and although well supported in the week, would be required to work sole charge on a Saturday. If you have a specialist interest or would like to pursue completing a certificate, we would certainly encourage you to progress with your ambitions. Michelle, our practice owner, would be delighted to have a discussion about your future ambitions and support you following you joining the practice.
Our consults are 15 minutes, with 30 minutes for new clients and complex cases. We have catch up slots and dedicated admin time added to the diary every day. We are fully equipped with in house lab, digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental, theatre, separate dog and cat wards, and isolation facilities.
This would ideally be a full-time role, with our vets working a 4 day week with the same day off each week. Our shifts are 9-7pm 3 days per week with one 5pm finish. Saturdays are worked on a 1:3 basis 9am-5pm. We are a team who value work life balance and family, and so we can be flexible with the rota if required and we would still encourage you to talk to us if the rota doesn’t quite fit your requirements. To help achieve that vital work life balance there is no OOH or Sunday work.
1. We are offering a competitive salary of up to £65,000 (DOE).
2. 5.6 weeks holiday allowance
3. Professional fees paid
4. 5 days of CPD and extra given for specialist interests as required
5. Pension scheme
With more than 440 small animal practices across the country, of all shapes and sizes, Vets for Pets is one of the largest UK veterinary groups and offers Veterinary Surgeons a range of opportunities, including the opportunity to run your own practice. However, what really makes vets for pets a unique opportunity is that it is run locally, providing our local teams the time and opportunity to support their local community. This means you to join a team that can support your individual needs while offering you a bespoke introduction to the practice, local community and caring for our patients!
Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
