SEN Support Practitioner ABC Teachers is recruiting a SEN Support Practitioner to work full time in specialist SEN schools supporting pupils with additional needs including ASC, PMLD and SEMH. The position is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. About the Role Classroom Support: Working alongside the class teacher to deliver adapted lessons tailored to a range of SEN needs 1:1 & Small Group Support: Supporting pupils with ASC, PMLD and SEMH to access learning and meet individual targets Behaviour & Emotional Regulation: Implementing consistent behaviour strategies and supporting positive emotional development Personal Care (where required): Providing support with personal care and physical needs in a respectful and dignified manner Monitoring Progress: Observing, recording and feeding back on student progress and behavioural patterns About the Schools Specialist SEN settings supporting pupils with complex and varying needs Structured, nurturing environments focused on individual outcomes Strong emphasis on teamwork, communication and consistency Dedicated to helping every student develop academically, socially and emotionally About You To be considered for the SEN Support Practitioner role, you must: Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting children with additional needs (this can be in schools, residential settings, care, outreach, youth services or community-based roles) Be available to work 5 days per week (8:30am – 4:00pm) Have experience supporting needs such as ASC, PMLD, SEMH or complex learning difficulties Be confident managing challenging behaviour where required Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above Be able to obtain suitable references and undergo an Enhanced DBS check You do not need classroom experience or to have previously worked in a school. What matters most is your hands-on SEN experience and genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. You will be patient, resilient, proactive and committed to making a meaningful difference every day.
