Role Overview
This role owns the UK trading entity's management accounting and financial reporting activities, partnering closely with the Group Finance Manager and the wider finance team across global entities. You will deliver accurate monthly accounts, maintain strong financial controls, support cash flow and borrowing base reporting, and help improve reporting and finance processes in a fast-paced trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly reporting and controls
Prepare and deliver the UK entity's monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet ownership, variance analysis, and clear financial commentary
Complete balance sheet reconciliations, maintain supporting schedules, and ensure appropriate financial controls and documentation
Support financial compliance activities and respond to internal/external information requests
Cash flow, treasury, and trading support
Assist with weekly position reporting, cash flow forecasting, and borrowing base reporting, including reconciliations between trading/finance data sources
Monitor and report on global foreign exchange (FX) exposures/positions and support related analysis
Support credit and insurance reporting requirements and maintain relevant documentation
Review and approve commercial and overhead payments in line with delegated authority limits and internal controls
Process improvement and systems
Contribute to continuous improvement of the reporting suite (e.g., templates, automation, controls, and data quality)
Support enhancements to finance and trading systems, including requirements gathering, testing, and process documentation
Team support
Provide cover for finance colleagues during planned and unplanned absences
Share knowledge and support the development of UK finance team capability through coaching, documentation, and training where appropriate
Ad hoc
Undertake ad hoc projects as required (e.g., cost control initiatives, analysis to support trading decisions, or process improvements)
Required Qualifications and Experience
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or equivalent experience; newly qualified and candidates with post-qualification experience are welcome
Experience producing monthly accounts preparation and financial reporting, with strong attention to detail
Strong organisational and time management skills, able to manage deadlines during month-end close
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English sufficient to work effectively with international colleagues and produce clear documentation and reporting
A proactive, problem-solving mindset with an interest in improving processes and implementing efficiencies
Strong teamwork and stakeholder management skills; comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
High ethical standards and sound judgment
Preferred (not required)
Experience in a fast-moving commercial environment
Exposure to cash flow analysis, borrowing base reporting, FX reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and intercompany reconciliation
Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel; exposure to SAP finance, Power BI, or similar reporting tools is a plus
