1:1 Teaching Assistant – Secondary Support | Bath
We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a secondary-aged pupil with additional needs in a welcoming secondary school in Bath. This temporary role is typically linked to a specific pupil and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on their academic progress, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
You will be part of an inclusive and forward-thinking school community that values high expectations, teamwork, and student wellbeing. Working closely with subject teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals, you will deliver targeted support across 1:1, small group, and in-class settings, helping pupils access the secondary curriculum and develop independence.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Have experience supporting pupils with special educational needs, ideally within a secondary or specialist setting
2. Understand a range of SEND, including communication and interaction needs, SEMH, or learning difficulties
3. Be confident supporting students across different subjects and adapting strategies accordingly
4. Be resilient, proactive, and calm in challenging situations
5. Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families
6. Be organised, patient, and student-centred
7. Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider pastoral and SEND team
Role requirements:
8. Term-time only, including INSET days
9. Temporary position linked to pupil funding
10. Start date: ASAP
11. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
12. Right to work in the UK
