Role: Cyber Security Consultant
Salary: £65,000 - £85,000
Location: South West, UK (with travel)
Clearance: SC/DV
About the Role
We are seeking a Cyber Security Consultant to join a growing team of specialists consulting into MOD environments.
As a consultant, you will play a key role in supporting programmes, projects, and organisations through the full security lifecycle, from inception through to disposal.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice and guidance on all aspects of cyber security.
* Deliver security policies, risk assessments, assurance management plans, audits, and other formal outputs.
* Engage directly with customers, ensuring deliverables are met on time and to a high standard.
* Identify and articulate business and technical security risks, recommending proportionate improvements.
* Review existing controls and propose enhancements to strengthen resilience.
* Support business development by cultivating strong client relationships.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Recognised industry certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA).
* Demonstrable experience in a cyber security role.
* Strong understanding of information security standards, frameworks, and best practices.
* Knowledge of information systems (e.g. cloud, access control, networking).
* Experience in customer-facing roles.
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Knowledge of Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC).
Desirable Skills & Experience
* UK Cyber Security Council professional registration (e.g. Chartered, Principal, Practitioner).
* Experience with HMG/MoD security standards, policies, and frameworks.
* Exposure to Secure by Design principles and assurance tooling.
* Knowledge of NCSC CAF, ISO 27001 audits, NIST frameworks, and supplier assurance.
* Experience working in defence, government, or regulated industries.
Additional Requirements
* Eligible for UK security clearance (SC or DV preferred).
* UK right to work.
* Willingness to travel.
