Job Title: Children Healthcare Assistant – role in a Science SEN (Special Educational Needs) School
Location: Cambourne, Cornwall
Salary: £13.68 – £17 per hour
Contract: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:00 – ongoing requirement

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Children Health Care Assistant to support young children with complex medical needs within a secondary school environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the children’s health, safety, and well-being during the school day.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with relevant clinical experience who is passionate about supporting young children in an educational setting.
Your duties will include the following:
1. Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, and medical/physical needs
2. Assisting children in science-based learning activities and classroom engagement
3. Providing 1:1 or group support tailored to individual learning plans
4. Helping with sensory regulation and behaviour support strategies
5. Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
6. Liaising with teaching staff and healthcare professionals
7. Monitoring health indicators (e.g. temperature, pulse, respiration)
8. Supporting children with feeding and nutritional needs
9. Promoting comfort, wellbeing, and emotional support
10. Accurate documentation of care and observations
11. Supporting therapy, play, and development sessions
Essential Requirements:
12. 6 months experience in the last 2 years
13. No sponsorships provided
14. Competency and training in: Nebuliser use Tube feeding Supporting physiotherapy
15. Enhanced DBS
16. Up-to-date moving and handling and safeguarding training
17. A caring, professional, and proactive attitude
18. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
19. Previous experience working in a school or with young children
20. Knowledge of SEN or experience working in a special educational needs environment
