Costs Team Leader

If you’re the sort of person who can keep a costs department running in a straight line without breaking a sweat, this one will interest you. The team is already established and functioning well, they simply need someone who can steer the ship, keep quality high and make sure cases don’t gather dust on anyone’s desk.
You’ll be the go-to technical mind for all things costs, the calm voice when deadlines loom, and the person who knows when to nudge, when to escalate and when to just get stuck in yourself.
What you’ll actually be doing
• Leading and supervising a team of costs draftsmen and debt recovery enforcement officers
• Keeping performance on track, offering guidance and stepping in when needed
• Running a small caseload of your own, because credibility matters
• Acting as the technical referral point for the wider team
• Handling Points of Reply, liens, client costs and defendant costs files
• Making sure costs are recovered efficiently on civil Housing Disrepair matters
• Supporting fee earners with accurate schedules where required
• Helping the operation run smoothly by picking up the odd extra task when things get lively
What they’re looking for
• Solid experience supervising or managing a costs team
• Confident communicator, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail without grinding to a halt over it
• Someone who can work at pace and still keep errors close to zero
• Housing disrepair knowledge is a welcome bonus
• Comfortable with Proclaim and Costs Master
• IT-literate and organised enough not to drown in a busy environment
