Salary: OHCAT Outer London Pay Scale, Grade:4/5 £25,927.88 - £29,099.61 (FTE £30,279.00 - £33,983.00) per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance

Location: Carew Academy, 33 Headley Avenue, Wallington, Surrey, SM6 8NQ

Working Pattern: Monday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Wednesday 8:15 a.m.– 5: 00p.m, Friday, 8:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Carew Academy is an Outstanding special school supporting students aged 7 to 18 with a wide range of abilities and additional learning needs, including those with complex needs.

We are excited to be based in Wallington on a brand-new site in a purpose-built school designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. This new environment offers enhanced facilities and spaces that support our broad and balanced curriculum, which is enriched by opportunities such as residential trips, curriculum visits, and access to a comprehensive range of on-site therapies.

We are looking for a caring and committed Student Support Mentor to support our students' educational journey. Your day-to-day assistance will be crucial in providing the help and encouragement students need to thrive in a supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

•To supervise students who are not attending timetabled lessons, either for personal reasons or because they have been place in reflection.

•To be on duty during all break and lunchtimes to supervise students, to be positive role model for student interaction and play and ensure an outstanding learning environment.

•To actively patrol the school during lesson times to ensure consistently high standards around the school and to ensure students remain focused on learning.

•Engage and motivate students and staff and work as part of a team.

Key Requirements:

•Safeguarding and child protection knowledge with up-to-date current practice through updates and refresher training.

•Ability to work flexibly and supportively with parents and carers.

•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children and adults, individually and in groups..

•Patience, empathy, a positive ‘can do’ disposition, flexibility and 100% commitment to supporting young people with disabilities.
