We are recruiting a Paramedic to support general practice in Walsall and in particular, the PCN and its objectives. The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner working independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat patients with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions, initiating treatment as appropriate. The post includes working within the Walsall practices and completing home visits to patients both in their own homes and the community setting.
The successful candidate will work with GP surgeries known as Primary Care Networks across the South of Walsall.
The post will be based at and provide the service from the GP Surgeries with some requirement to attend team meeting and training at OurNet's head office located in Bloxwich as well as training at other local for regional venues as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have experience in working minor illness clinics or have relevant experience in assessing patients and will be registered with the HCPC.
Main duties of the job / Responsibilities
* Work closely with Primary Care Network Clinical Directors and take direction from them as to the needs of the service.
* Support the PCN GP practices with home visiting workload.
* Act as an autonomous practitioner assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions, initiating treatment as appropriate.
* Proactively manage housebound/care home patients to increase quality of care for this vulnerable group.
* Use telephone triage for all home visit requests where appropriate.
* Collaborate with GPs, nursing staff and non-clinical support staff.
* Use individual skill and experience to make a positive contribution to the organisation.
* Develop innovative concepts, models, methods and practices delivering new and improved primary care services to meet changing needs.
* Trial and adopt new working methods designed to manage increasing demand in primary care.
* Provide healthy lifestyles, health promotion and disease prevention, especially to housebound patients.
* Provide education and training to other staff and students as appropriate and take a lead role in encouraging teamwork and sharing best practice.
* Undertake audit and research where required.
* Assist with covering multiple PCNs within Walsall area if required.
* Have completed the FCP or commit to completing FCP modules within 12 months of applying.

Experience
* Minimum 5 years post registration experience
* Understanding of national and local guidelines
* Previous experience of Non-Medical prescribing
* Working / worked as a paramedic in primary care
* Leading a team
* Clinical Audit & Research
* Ability to service improve and develop models for change

Qualifications
* Current Registered Paramedic Practitioner (HPC)
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Completed ACP Course (Degree Level)
* Independent Non-Medical Prescriber (V300)
* Experience and /or qualification in Mentoring
* Relevant / Associated MSc
