We are currently looking to expand our Calibration / Metrology team and are seeking an experienced Calibration Engineer to join a well-established and highly regarded precision engineering environment in Birmingham.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in accuracy, consistency, and working to the highest standards within dimensional calibration.
The Role
As a Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out precise dimensional measurements and calibrations using a range of high-accuracy equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring all instruments meet required standards and specifications.
You will be working with equipment capable of measuring to 0.001 mm (1 micron) and below, including:
* Slip Gauges (Block Gauges)
* Micrometers
* Floating Carriage Micrometers (FCM)
* Universal Length Measuring (ULM) instruments
Key Responsibilities
* Perform calibration and measurement of precision instruments
* Maintain accurate records in line with quality standards
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with calibration procedures
* Identify and report any inconsistencies or non-conformances
* Support continuous improvement within the calibration process
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in dimensional calibration or precision measurement
* Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
* Excellent hand-eye coordination and ability to work to tight tolerances
* Experience with gear and spline calibration, manufacturing, or design (desirable)
* Experience working within a UKAS-accredited laboratory (desirable)
