Psychological Medicine, Older Adult and Neurodevelopmental (PMOA & NDS) Directorate are offering an exciting opportunity for a proactive and proficient Inpatient Matron to come and join our team.
This is an exciting post that allows for close working and collaboration with senior management and clinicians in the future development of the directorate. The successful post holder will be based within the Directorate and will be an integral part of the Nursing, Quality and Assurance Team.
The successful candidates will have exceptional communication, motivational and influencing skills being able to influence and encourage teams to work across organisational boundaries whilst holding patient care at the heart of their work.
The candidates will need to be passionate about the delivery of high-quality patient care and have experience in leadership. The post holder will be a 'self-starter' and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a multi professional team.

The matron role will provide senior overall operational, quality and clinical leadership and responsibility. With the aim to provide senior nursing leadership and responsibility for overseeing the clinical care within the specialist inpatient and community teams under PMOA & NDS directorate, in particular within our national services within our Psychosis, Neuropsychiatric, Neuro-developmental, Perinatal and Eating Disorders pathways.
Responsibilities
* Leading by example
* Making sure patients get quality care
* Ensuring staffing is appropriate to patient needs
* Empowering nurses to take on a wider range of clinical tasks
* Improving hospital/team cleanliness
* Ensuring patients' nutritional needs are met
* Improving on patients experience (to include supporting teams in identification of ligatures and management plan regarding existing ligatures where patients are seen in outpatients)
* Making sure patients are treated with respect
* Preventing hospital-acquired infection when patients are admitted to the ward.
* Resolving problems for patients and their relatives by building closer relationships
