Job Summary


Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Vice President (VP) of Engineering will lead and stablise the organizations end to end engineering function owning both software delivery and operational performance.


This role is accountable for engineering execution at scale, including development velocity, release predictability, platform reliability, quality, security and cost efficiency.


Operating across both build (c.40%) and run (c.60%), the VP of Engineering will unify software delivery and service operations under a single leadership structure, ensuring that what is build is delivered reliably securely and at scale.


This role plays a critical part in translating product and technology strategy into consistent, high-quality execution aligned to business outcomes.


Key Priorities, Duties and Responsibilities


Engineering Strategy & Execution

* Translate product and technology roadmaps into clear, executable engineering plans.
* Drive high quality software delivery across multiple teams and technology stacks.
* Own development velocity, release cadence and delivery predictability.
* Balance short term delivery needs with long term platform scalability and technical health.
* Reduce technical debt while maintaining delivery momentum.


Engineering Execution & Build Leadership

* Drive best in class software development practices across Agile, Dev Ops and CI/CD.
* Oversee: Branching strategies, CI/CD pipelines, Automated testing frameworks and release management.
* Ensure consistent code quality and engineering standards across teams.
* Leverage modern tooling, including AI assisted development where appropriate.
* Partner closely with Product, Architecture and PMO teams to align delivery with priorities.


Operational Stability & Service Excellence

* Lead cross functional teams including: SRE, Infrastructure / Dev Ops, ITSM, QA, Security Operations & FinOps
* Ensure platform reliability, scalability and resilience.
* Define and manage SLIs, SLOs and KPIs across engineering and operations.
* Improve system uptime, performance and incident response (MTTR).
* Proactively identify and mitigate risks, bottlenecks and vulnerabilities.
* Ensure strong cost control across infrastructure and operations.


Engineering Excellence & Ways of Working

* Establish and embed best in class engineering practices and standards.
* Drive continuous improvement in: Development Velocity, Code Quality and Operational Efficiency.
* Promote a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
* Implement strong quality assurance, observability and monitoring frameworks.


Team Leadership, Capability Build & Cross Functional Collaboration.

* Build, lead and scale high performing global engineering teams.
* Develop Engineering Managers and technical leadership capability.
* Foster a culture of ownership, accountability and operational discipline.
* Drive hiring, retention and succession planning.
* Ensure teams are aligned to clear priorities and performance outcomes.
* Partner closely with Product, Data, AI and business stakeholders.
* Align engineering priorities with business strategy and customer outcomes.


Performance, Governance & Reporting

* Own and track key engineering outcomes including: release predictability, uptime and availability, defect rates, MTTR and cost efficiency.
* Translate engineering and operational data into executive level insights.
* Establish structured reporting cadences (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
* Ensure clear governance and accountability across delivery.


Financial & Operational Management

* Support the CTO & CFO in managing engineering budgets (headcount, infrastructure, tooling).
* Drive cost efficiency across engineering and operations.
* Evaluate and manage third party vendors and partners.


What We’re Looking For


Experience

* Proven experience in senior engineering leadership roles (VP Engineering, Head of Engineering or similar).
* Commercially astute technology leader, strong business acumen.
* Strong track record of leading multi-team, cross functional engineering organizations in SaaS or enterprise environments.
* Experience across both software development and operational delivery (build + run).


Technical Expertise


A deep understanding of

* Modern Software Architecture (cloud, API’s, microservices).
* SDLC, CI/CD and observability.
* Extensive knowledge of .NET
* Reliability engineering and platform operations.
* Experience managing cloud environments (AWS preferred).
* Familiar with security and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, Soc 2 etc).


Leadership

* Strong leadership capability with experience building and scaling high performing teams.
* Ability to operate at a senior level while remaining close to delivery.
* Data driven decision maker with a strong execution focus.


Mindset

* Delivery focused with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
* Pragmatic, balancing innovation with operational excellence.
* Commercially aware, with focus on efficiency and business outcomes.
* Forward looking with interest in AI and emerging technologies.


Other

* Fluent in English language (verbal & written), Portuguese is a nice to have (not mandatory).
