Tesco Shift Leader – Days – Ventnor High St Express
Apply to be a Shift Leader at Tesco. Shift Leaders are responsible for leading teams and ensuring smooth store operations.
Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you prefer fewer hours, you can work as few as 12 hours. Flexible scheduling is available.
Availability Window:
* Sunday: 09:00 – 18:00
* Monday: 14:00 – 23:00
* Saturday: 09:00 – 18:00

Responsibilities
* Work in a fast‑paced retail environment with a variety of bags.
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Be there for customers, listening to them and ensuring they leave with what they came for.
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching your colleagues and giving feedback.
* Guide and support your colleagues in-store, ensuring a safe place to work and shop.
* Maintain a great understanding of store performance, assisting managers with improvement actions.
* Lead from the front, setting a great example for the team.
* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience.
* Supporting colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks.
* Opening and closing the store, completing duty cover, ensuring all decisions are right for safety.
* Being the go‑to person for day‑to‑day queries in the absence of a manager.
* Ensuring the store is clean, tidy, and well‑presented.
* Supporting managers with seasonal, community and charity events.
* Contributing to a great inclusive team atmosphere.
* Providing great customer service by listening to customers and putting them first.
* Keeping the team informed of communications, changes, and updates.
* Continuously learning about store performance and looking for ways to improve and simplify operations.
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles that hinder service.
* Following health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same.
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues who provide outstanding service.
Qualifications
* Be a great role model, providing thoughtful customer service that meets every customers needs.
* Build strong, inclusive relationships with colleagues to create a positive team atmosphere.
* Communicate clearly, using a variety of methods to keep the team well‑informed.
* Take the lead comfortably and oversee the store in the absence of a manager.
* Make flexible, confident decisions and handle change to keep customers and colleagues satisfied.

* Be curious, always looking for ideas to serve customers, communities and the planet better.
* Be at least 18 years old.
