Overall role purpose

This role sits within the International Business Support Function (IBSF), alongside Proposal Support, Pursuit Content, Industries, Targeting, and the International Business Centre. IBSF helps member firms win and serve international clients, supporting the network’s growth agenda.


The role focuses on developing the international business data strategy and embedding global policies and processes to enable effective cross-border collaboration while protecting the network.

You’ll lead globally convened teams, set direction, and influence future priorities. Experience in data strategy and policy review with a commercial lens is essential.


The strategy will enhance insight into our international client base—by geography, industry, and service line—empowering member firms to refine their business development strategies.

You’ll work with stakeholders to evolve and embed policies, streamline processes, and coordinate change with policy owners.


Main responsibilities


Strategy

Evaluate existing international business policies and data sets against new strategic priorities and develop a plan to align policy and data requirements against business needs

* Work alongside IBSF leadership team to support on overall delivery of IBSF priorities
* Champion data-driven insight as an enabler of effective strategic planning across IBSF
* Support ad hoc projects as required – eg annual survey, GRD etc.


International Business Data

Review the existing approach to data management within IBSF and develop a a data strategy to support the network in measuring international business. Data sources will include, amongst others;

* International Targets tool
* Referral data
* Member Firm survey and pursuit data
* Linkages with other GTIL data resources such as ProposalHub, ClientVoice, Strategic Growth Markets and forthcoming Global Relationship Database
* External market insights (e.g. Economist Impact)
* Identify data needs across IBSF and IBC community (and potentially NCT community) and work with key stakeholders to gather and report on relevant data sets
* Collaborate with other GTIL teams (e.g. IT, Digital, Service Lines, Risk management & independence) and key member firms to ensure alignment across international data-related initiatives
* Contribute expertise to technology-enabled initiatives, such as streamlining cross-firm collaboration on pursuits and key accounts
* Drive automation and MI dashboarding progress across IBSF and, as needed, NCT team.


Master Service Agreements (MSA)

* Maintain the database of client MSAs alongside a best practice framework (best practice guidance etc.) to support member firms engage in such agreements in securing more international business.


Inter Firm Agreements

* Work alongside Legal team to review the existing IFA to assess whether it is fit for purpose; evaluate any changes needed and lead any arising change programme.

Pricing

* Lead on the ongoing implementation and training for the global pricing policy
* Collaborate with appropriate colleagues to drive awareness of the revised policy within the network and ensure the policy remains aligned to member firm and network needs.


Policy mapping

* International Business Policy Playbook - Synthesise all international policy information to provide a single access point for all international business policy support
* Work with key stakeholders to critically assess the current status and usage of all policies (e.g. identified gaps, compliance, frequency of review etc) in order to develop a heat map.
* Report on policy areas requiring further development.


Policy review and expansion

* Based on stakeholder and leadership input, produce an action plan highlighting key areas of priority
* For existing policies requiring review/updating, provide co-ordination support and track progress with the relevant policy owner
* For newly defined policies, identify the appropriate GTIL owner and provide project management/convening support as needed during the creation and approval of the policy
* Identify areas where we can provide behavioural support to encourage broad compliance with global policies, drawing on expertise of stakeholders including the people and culture team
* Maintain and communicate an ongoing tracker of progress against agreed priorities, updating the overall policy map and escalating any issues as needed
* Ensure all policy documents (within project scope) are in line with agreed format/standards.


Communication

* Build personal network with key member firm and GTIL stakeholders, gaining ongoing feedback to drive continual improvement
* Produce regular summaries and, as required, present findings to stakeholders – including the Global Executive Team
* Ensure all policy information/documentation relevant to the end-to-end cycle is available on the global intranet, Connect – working with policy owners, Communications team and Pursuit Content team
* Raise awareness of current/updated policies and build behavioural support ideas into the overall IBSF communication plan – working with leadership team and NCT colleagues
* Develop and deliver training to support the successful understanding and application of international business policies.


People

* Help build the professional reputation and awareness of the IBSF
* Collaborate widely with teams across GTIL and member firm communities involved in international business
* Identify opportunities for the IBSF to provide added value to the global network and the member firms within it
* Support the professional development of Policy and Data senior associate
* Work in line with the organisation’s values of collaboration, leadership, excellence, agility, respect and responsibility.


Person specification

* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
* Understanding and interest in the practicalities of winning/serving international clients in professional services, including the realities of cross-firm collaboration
* Analytical mindset
* Curious mindset – probing to help drive process improvement
* Good written/oral communication skills


Experience Essential

* Experience of business policy review and change management.
* Experience of creating a data strategy, data analysis and interpretation with a commercial lens
* Detailed thinker, comfortable gathering and synthesising information from a broad range of structured/unstructured sources
* Strong project management and process mapping experience
* Proven communication skills; able to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical business users
* Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders, across cultures, with diplomacy and tact
* Familiarity with data analysis and automation tools, including advanced knowledge of Excel and Power Platform


Experience Desirable

* Understanding of business development and key account management approaches
* Experience working with policy/compliance/legal documentation
* Knowledge of AI tools/platforms, particularly Microsoft Copilot
