We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Physiotherapist to join our Respiratory team. Our Physiotherapy Department is committed to advancing the role of physiotherapy in respiratory care. Under the mentorship of experienced Band 7 professionals, you will receive strong guidance, career development opportunities, and a culture that fosters excellence, innovation, and continuous professional development (CPD). The team covers our Respiratory Ward, Cardiology and our Medical Acute Dependency Unit (MADU). This post mainly focuses on MADU and our Respiratory Ward. As a senior clinician, you will play a key role in supervising, educating, and appraising physiotherapists, support staff, and students, and in leading and contributing to service development and high-quality patient care and innovation in practice.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality physiotherapy services, assessing and treating patients, including those with complex needs, using evidence-based practice.
* Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, formulate individualised management and treatment plans, and implement a range of specialised interventions.
* Maintain professional and legal accountability for all aspects of clinical practice, including accurate patient documentation and adherence to professional guidelines.
* Demonstrate expertise in clinical governance and risk management, ensuring that treatment plans are supported by current evidence.
* Utilise advanced manual techniques and therapeutic handling, often requiring moderate physical effort.
* Stay abreast of developments within the speciality, analyse current research, and implement changes in clinical practice.
* Safely use and ensure the maintenance of physiotherapy equipment, adhering to departmental policies.
* Participation in weekend and emergency on-call rotas.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* HCPC Registration
* Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
* Evidence of recent study in relevant clinical area
Desirable criteria
* Member of relevant clinical interest group (e.g. ACPRC)
* CSP member
* Clinical educators training
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Sound knowledge of physiotherapy in the relevant area
* Ability to undertake lone working
* Ability to pass skills/knowledge onto others in formal and informal environment
* Knowledge and understanding of acute and community services including social care and mental health services
Desirable criteria
* Facilitation skills
* Basic knowledge of health legislation
* Be able to work single handedly with individuals and groups
* Management skills including supervisory and appraisal skills
Experience
Essential criteria
* Completion of band 5 rotations. This includes experience in the relevant clinical areas, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgical/ICU, Elderly Care, Neuro, Outpatients.
* Relevant clinical respiratory postgrad NHS experience
* Post graduate NHS experience of working as part of an MDT
* Training and supervision to support all physiotherapy staff and students
Desirable criteria
* Experience of research and audit
* Band 6 Respiratory experience
* Band 6 NHS Acute experience
* Experience in development of a project or service
