Assistant Manager
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Manager located in Chester. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, supervising inventory, and ensuring high-quality customer service. Additionally, the Assistant Manager will assist with developing and implementing business strategies, monitoring financial performance, and maintaining a positive working environment.
Responsibilities
- All usual Shop responsibilities including but not limited to: serving customers, carrying out perpetual and other stock counts and putting stock away.
- Assist the manager in tasks and organise other members of staff in the Shop to maintain standards and a proactive and efficient environment.
- Run the Shop effectively in the manager’s absence, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard. Including ordering stock and writing rotas where necessary.
- Train new members of staff both in the Stores and Shop to a high level. Accommodating different ways of working and learning, enabling Tanners to make the most of each person.
- Actively work on sales and strategies in collaboration with the manager, to boost and maintain sales in the Shop.
-Professionally and confidently advise knowledgeable and good customers on fine wine.
- Professionally and confidently advise customers on, and guide them through large and complex orders from decisions to collections and refunds.
- Perform local deliveries in the Chester area, driving a small Tanners Van.
Requirements
- Minimum WSET Level 2 certificate or equivalent.
Desire to actively build sales and the customer base.
Ability to confidently organise other staff members.
High level of personal and professional organisational skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with customers and maintain an enthusiastic work environment amongst colleagues.
- Flexibility to regularly work evenings, weekends and early mornings; often with short notice. Must be able to work Saturdays.
- Must have a full, clean driving licence.
Desirables
- Experience working and organising tastings and serving wine to customers.
- Experience using customer targeting methods to sell wine.
