Job Description
At Altrad, we’re not just a support services company – we’re the critical human infrastructure that keeps the UK and Ireland’s most vital industries moving. With over 10,000 talented individuals across the region, our people power the extraordinary – delivering innovative solutions that make a real impact on millions of lives.
We’re driven by ambition, creativity, and a collective commitment to excellence. At Altrad, no two days are the same, and no idea is too small. We value fresh thinking, big-picture problem solving, and people who are ready to rise to a challenge.
You’ll play a vital role in supporting the Delivery Assurance function and/or the MEHA Programme Assurance team, influencing quality at the earliest design stages through to construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Quality Management System (QMS) Assurance: You’ll work alongside QA Area Leads and engineers to tailor and implement an effective QMS that meets nuclear regulatory demands and the specific requirements of this high-profile new build.
* Procedure Development and Review: You’ll create, review, and continuously improve QA/QC procedures, Construction Work Packs, work instructions, and quality plans to align with project needs and strict compliance standards.
* Quality Audits and Inspections: You’ll lead audits and inspections across site activities — identifying non-conformances, driving root cause analysis, and overseeing corrective and preventive actions.
* Life Time Quality Records (LTQR): You’ll ensure the robust documentation of all quality activities for full traceability and regulatory compliance across the project lifecycle.
* Risk Management: You’ll assess potential quality and safety risks, working proactively to implement mitigation strategies that ensure delivery without compromise.
* Regulatory Compliance: You’ll maintain full alignment with nuclear regulations, codes, standards, and licensing conditions, ensuring absolute compliance throughout.
* Training and Development: You’ll support knowledge sharing across the team — delivering training sessions and promoting a proactive culture of quality awareness.
* Non-Conformance and Root Cause Analysis: You’ll lead the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process and implement root cause investigations to identify and prevent repeat issues.
* Performance Monitoring & Reporting: You’ll track QA/QC KPIs, produce insightful reports for leadership, and recommend tangible quality improvements.
* Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs): You’ll develop ITPs and verify supporting documentation to ensure each construction activity meets rigorous quality standards.
* FME/CFSI Compliance: You’ll champion Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) and Counterfeit, Fraudulent, and Suspect Items (CFSI) controls to maintain safety and integrity.
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
* You’re ONC, HNC, HND certified or have a Recognised Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
* You have recognised Auditor Qualification (preferred)
* You’re a Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and IRCA Auditor Training
* You have experience in Quality Engineering roles (ideally in major infrastructure or nuclear)
* You have experience working in alliance or joint-venture project environments
* You’re familiar with nuclear standards and compliance expectations
What we offer:
We know that great people do great work when they’re supported, valued, and inspired. That’s why we offer:
* A competitive salary
* 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
* The chance to work on one of the UK’s most ambitious nuclear projects
* A culture that rewards ingenuity, fosters personal growth, and celebrates success
At Altrad, your journey starts with a commitment to build a better tomorrow – for our clients, our communities, and your career.
