Overview
The History Department seeks an enthusiastic, well-qualified graduate to teach History across the age range with immediate start. Applications are invited from NQTs and experienced teachers in the independent and maintained sectors. A willingness to become involved with sports teams/extra-curricular activities and trips would be an advantage. The Department has a track record of success and a collaborative culture across history and politics staff. The college offers a dedicated Humanities Block and a mix of Key Stage 3 to Sixth Form study.
Responsibilities
* Teach History across Key Stage 3 to Sixth Form, including current units and coursework as described (e.g., Key Stage 3 modules on The Crusades, Revolutions and Slavery; IGCSE German Depth Study 1933-1945; AQA specification for Sixth Form units).
* Engage students through innovative teaching methods and use of technology (e.g., iPad-led teaching) to support learning.
* Contribute to the department’s lecture programme and visiting speakers, and participate in trips and extra-curricular activities (including field trips and visits referenced in the role).
* Collaborate with colleagues within the Social Sciences department to support student development and achievement.
* Support students with high achievement, including tracking progress and contributing to outcomes that align with department and school goals.
Qualifications
* Minimum qualification: Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
* Suitable for newly qualified teachers or early career teachers; no previous experience required.
* Strong knowledge and passion for teaching History at Key Stage 3 level.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage students through innovative teaching methods.
